AFM Lab ITB Faculty Member Receives PRIMA Award 2025 for Outstanding Commercial Research Achievement

Friday, 09 January 2026

Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) reaffirmed its commitment to impactful research and innovation through the organization of the Research, Innovation, and Community Service Exhibition (PRIMA) 2025, held in conjunction with the ITB CEO Summit 2025. The main event took place on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, at Aula Barat and Aula Timur, ITB Ganesha Campus, following a two-day series of activities on 15–16 December 2025.

Carrying the theme “Synergizing, Inspiring, and Creating Impact,” PRIMA x ITB CEO Summit 2025 was designed as a strategic platform to integrate academic research outcomes with the needs of industry. Through research exhibitions, strategic discussions, and stakeholder engagement sessions, the event aimed to strengthen collaboration networks, accelerate innovation downstreaming, and open new opportunities within the technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

At the PRIMA Award 2025, Dr. Eng. Muhammad Iqbal, S.T., M.T., a faculty member of the Advanced Functional Materials (AFM) Laboratory, received an award under the Directorate of Science and Technology Park (DKST) category for Research with the Highest Commercial Achievement. This recognition highlights the significant contribution of his research, which not only demonstrates academic excellence but also delivers tangible commercial and industrial impact.

PRIMA—an acronym for Research, Innovation, and Community Service Exhibition—is an annual flagship event of ITB that serves as a year-end reflection on institutional research achievements while reinforcing ITB’s strategic research and innovation agenda. In 2025, PRIMA was organized by the committee under the Office of the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation (WRRI) ITB and was fully integrated with the ITB CEO Summit.

The PRIMA x ITB CEO Summit 2025 series was conducted across two venues: on 15 December 2025 at ITB Innovation Park Summarecon Bandung, and on 16 December 2025 at Aula Barat and Aula Timur, ITB Ganesha Campus. The event showcased more than 900 posters presenting research outputs, innovations, and community service programs produced by ITB faculty members throughout 2025.

This achievement is expected to inspire the ITB academic community—particularly early-career researchers—to continue advancing high-quality research with strong societal and industrial relevance.
